How Strive Came to the Road
From a lime to a full Jouvert family.
Strive began in 2014 as a family-run restaurant and bar, built on genuine relationships, familiar faces, and a love for bringing people together.
Over time, the bond between Strive and its customers grew into something deeper — one family.
In 2022, led by the late Shawnrick Crooks, the Strive family felt it was time to take that energy beyond its walls and onto the road.
That moment marked the birth of Strive Jouvert, first presented at Jouvert 23.
Today, Strive brings people together through our Jouvert and a range of other events. These include food-focused experiences such as Wild Meat and St James Can Cook, as well as high-energy events including Strive Jam, Parang, and the Mayaro Pool Parties. We cater for everyone — always creating a safe atmosphere filled with energy, good vibes, and familiar faces.

6th August 1964 – 2nd July 2025
The visionary who saw what others could not. The believer who held faith when doubt crept in. The leader who gave direction when the path was unclear. The worker who put his shoulders to the wheel to make things happen. The entertainer who ensured the journey was always filled with laughter.
One man, many characteristics — a great man shaped by integrity, discipline, and heart. His energy shaped what Strive became: authentic, welcoming, joyous, and progressive.
Our commitment is to carry his vision forward and ensure that the dream he believed in continues to grow and find its fulfilment.
